Persian Wars
Today
in Western Civilization we learned a lot about the Persian Wars. The Persian
Army, first archers (do damage but from a distance). The cavalry (they disrupt communication
between generals and soldiers). Then lightly armored infantry (carried spears,
swords, and bows). The timeline of Persian wars were five hundred forty six B.C
Persians conquer Greeks in Ioania. Four hundred ninety-nine to four hundred
ninety-four B.C Ioanian revolt (Athens helps).
Darius the Great defeats these rebels and vows revenge on Athens. Four
hundred ninety B.C Persian fleet attacks marathon, but loses (run,
Pheidippedus, run!). Four hundred eighty B.C
Xerxes (Darius’ son) conducts massive assault on Athens.
