warring city-states

Civilization Mr. Schick wasn’t feeling too well so we decided to take some
notes from our textbooks. Things like Warring
City-States, rule and order in Greek city states, by seven hundred fifty B.C
the city state, or polis, was the fundamental political unit in ancient Greece.
A polis was a made up of a city and it’s surrounding countryside, which
included numerous villages. At the agora, or market place, or on a fortified
hilltop called an acropolis, citizens gathered to discuss city government. A
single person called a king ruled in government is called monarchy. Others
adopted aristocracy, a government is ruled by a small group of noble,
landowning families
