alexander the great

Today in Western Civ we wrote down notes from our textbooks about Alexander the Great’s Empire. The main idea, Alexander the Great conquered Persia and Egypt and extended his empire to the Indus River northwest of India. Why it matters now, Alexanders empire extended across an area that today consists of many nations and diverse cultures. Setting the stage, The Pelopnneision war severely weakened several Greek city-states. This caused rapid decline in their military and economic power. In the nearby kingdom of Macedonia, King Philip II took note. He dreamed of taking control of Greece and then moving against Persia. Macedonia is just north of Greece.
